Hey guys, hi Mary! Sparky took me up to the Field in '91. After Bud flew me around the patch I was hooked! I loved that place and its inhabitants so much that I kept coming back getting all my ratings there until the INS put an end to my unsteady lifestyle in 96 - damnit - if not I'd probably still be competing with "Still got the blues" guitargod Neil for who's flying the smallest possible pattern in the yellow Citabria :-)

This is the true birthplace of my aviation career and Bud and Patsy Cushing were my aviation parents! I would like to shout out a special "Thanks" to Martin Osborn, former Cushing Field student and Wanke's Wings flight instructor, that this little site exists! I, like so many, have years of memories at this little grass piece of heaven. Bud, Patsy, Kim, Tres and Mindy all left lasting impressions on my path called life. There were a few others... Andy & Lauren Smitty (Glen Smith) Steve Nickerson Greg Thorson Susan (in the office at Hinsdale) Bear-Kitty-Cow-Cat (the dog) Derrick (the maintenance man) Mark "Sparky" Gibson Matt Mund Dana Pyle George Polk Jon Girgis Andreas Spielman (Swed) Russ Austin (English) Adrian Govis (English) Mike Beinhauer Jiri "George" Urban (Czech) Mark Retterer Martin Osborn (English) Brian Judkins Arnold Angerer (Austrian) Scott Yoder Christian Morrell (French) Louie Simioni Jenny Bolger ...just to name a few. If you can add to this list or you are from this era of Cushing Field please drop some names in here. One more: James Stedman (English...oh yeah, I married this one.) Talk to you soon---Mary Wanke
